Description
This charming Victorian Villa, built in 1875, is ideally located on the A30 at the top of the High Street, but in a quiet position set back some 50 metres along our own private driveway. Within our 10 comfortable bedrooms we offer a wide range of high quality bed and breakfast accommodation, perfect for both short and longer stays for either business or leisure. Our dedication to hospitality, cleanliness and customer service has resulted in us being awarded for six consecutive years, the accolade from the AA of a 'Highly Commended' guest house. We have our own private car park adjacent to the house, with space for up to 12 cars. The shops, inns, restaurants and amenities of the town are just a short stroll away. Freshly cooked, hearty English breakfast (or vegetarian/lighter options), made with locally sourced produce are served in our light and spacious dining room with conservatory overlooking the garden. The historic town of Chard is an ideal base for exploring the many delights of Somerset, Devon and Dorset or for breaking the long journey to Cornwall.
Over the years Watermead Guest House has gained an enviable reputation for clean and comfortable accommodation, along with great hospitality. We can offer ten individual bedrooms, mostly en-suite, with single, double, twin and family rooms available. In the main house we have 9 bedrooms situated over the 1st and 2nd floors. All of the rooms are centrally heated and furnished to a good standard with Freeview digital television, hospitality tray, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and clock radio. Iron and trouser press on request. Free Wi Fi internet access is also available. Our studio room is perfect for even the largest of families. Accessed via the garden, this first floor room is an amazing 13 metres long by 5 metres wide and has a double bed and three single beds as standard. There is also a lounge area, Freeview digital television, dining table, fridge and microwave plus an en-suite bathroom.
As we are one on the largest guest houses in the area, we are able to accommodate family parties and those attending local wedding venues. We are also happy to help with those families wanting to book the entire house for that special occasion. The breakfast menu includes your choice of fruit juice, fruit and cereals, along with our tasty English breakfast made with high quality locally sourced produce. A vegetarian or lighter version is available. Tea and coffee with toast is served with delicious Robertson's preserves. Well behaved dogs are welcome in certain rooms at a nominal charge. For everyone's comfort there is no smoking inside the house.

Please note our cancellation policy. We reserve the right to charge the full cost of the first night\'s accommodation for any non-arrival or booking cancelled within 48 hours of the arrival date.
